As you may or may not know, Trade Paints holds a charity golf day every year. Friday 27th June saw this years ... our 10th Golf Day- and remarkably for the 10th year running (despite the Met Office’s pessimism) we were blessed with sunshine from start to finish, again!!

Now, whether it's a case of word that it was our 10th year spreading, thus there were a few special additions (comedian, barbecue, even better prizes and goody bags to name a few), or whether its simply a result of now  having our own society (see below if interested) … whatever the reasons, we had record numbers by far- a staggering 68 players, spread across 17 teams.

The day began with the obligatory tea and coffee, with freshly cooked (no pre-cooked stuff at Sedlescombe!) bacon sarnies. Having got that chore out the way, it was to the range for most, to get those good shots out of their system.

Due to the larger numbers we had teams going off the first and tenth, which proved a logistical challenge for our ‘Refreshments Man’, aka Mr Peter Jones. In between the shouts of FOUR, the following 5 hours saw Peter handing out record numbers of drinks, wagon wheels, and most importantly fines!!

As the pain of the golf faded back in the bar we were then treated to a gourmet barbecue, fit for a golfing legend- including some cracking ribs!!

Another chore done, and the final group having found their way back to the club house (god bless sat nav on the iPhone!; ) it was prize giving and auction time, courtesy of Mr Adger Brown (aka ‘a very funny man’).

This passed in a blur of great prizes (thank you to our generous suppliers- especially Crown for their goody bags!: ) and lots of laughter. After that … well, the Guinness flew better than the Srixon thats all I’m saying.

The final count revealed that we raised just over £1,200 for St Michaels Hospice - topped up to  £1,500 by Trade Paints. Thank you all who attended- see you next year!
